Beautiful on the inside & Out

Laura Michelle Newman

Every once in a while, we meet someone we’re lucky enough to call a friend. But rarely do we meet someone like Laura—a firecracker, a radiant spark of joy, and a fiercely fun spirit who deeply loves the Lord Jesus. She had a way of lifting others up, encouraging excellence, and seeing people not just as they appeared, but for who they truly were—their spirit, their character, their heart.

Beautiful on the inside and out, Laura Michelle Newman embodies God’s strength wrapped in His grace. To know Laura is to be impacted by a force that leaves people with a desire to follow Christ at all costs.

Laura’s beauty radiated from her passion for Christ and her unwavering faith. Though she is no longer with us in body, we take comfort in knowing she is now present with the Lord. She never shied away from standing up for what was right, and she poured her heart into loving her husband, her family and friends, her animals, and the joy of learning.

Her number is 22. Her sense of humor? Sharp and bold. She would remind us that even Darth Vader is a sinner in need of grace. Laura is the kind of friend who would drop everything to help someone in need, and in turn, those people stood by her when it mattered most.

Her creativity is a gift. Her ability to tell stories through video, her love of sports and gadgets reflect a brilliant and curious mind. We feel the emptiness left by her absence, but we rejoice in knowing her pain is gone. What remains is our grief, our love, and our hope in Christ.

For those who trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, our eternity is secure, just as Laura wants it. One day, we will join her in a new heaven and a new earth. As Revelation 21:3–4 reminds us:

“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

If there’s any thing Laura would want us to remember, it’s this: Pursue Christ. Live with no regrets. And don’t be a wuss.
